Stressed out

Well, what a stressful time I’ve had this last fortnight. Those nice people at the doggy swimming place said that my knee had swollen up and they were rather worried. So Mum and Dad whisked me off to Dr John, who prescribed steroids and painkillers. After about five days I started to feel better but boy, those steroids make you hungry. I could eat a horse!

Then Ma and Pa dumped Stupid Brother and I at our breeder Rachel’s for the weekend while they went to clear out Uncle Jim’s flat in London. The joy of being surrounded by so many girls and fluffy toys was balanced somewhat by SB suffering a severe bout of homesickness – and therefore diarrhoea – in the middle of the night.

He woke poor Rachel with his barking – which he NEVER does at home – to let her know he REALLY REALLY did want to go out.  You have to hand it to him, I’d never have risked getting Rachel up in the middle of the night – it’s neither British nor good manners. I’d have just held on, whatever the cost.

No sooner had we got over this disruption to our routine than we were back at Rachel’s - for FIVE nights this time! Taking Dobbin to the doctor in Wales and 'working' at The Open in Kent were the excuses .............

And apparently it was me who let the side down this time (“Rolo! You’ve let your family down, your breed down, your country down but most of all you’ve let yourself down,” chirruped Mum).

Well, I can’t help it if those steroids have made me even more hyperactive than normal. But we both behaved when we were given a short back and sides – and wow do we look handsome! Especially moi. And it’s meant that SB has been having some luck with the ladies now he’s not so hairy, dirty and smelly. That Canter Coat Shine for horses really does work on us dogs!
